Sankofa comes from the Akan people, from Western Africa. The word SANKOFA derives from the words \u00ab san \u00bb (come back), \u00ab ko \u00bb (go), \u00ab fa \u00bb (look, search, and take). Sankofa teaches us that we should look deep into our roots in order to go forward. It means we should go back to our roots to take the best of what the past has taught us, and it will allow us to exploit our full potential to go forward. Visually and symbolically, Sankofa represents a mythical bird flying forward, its head turned backwards with an egg (symbol for the future) in its beak.<\/h5>\n
